Tyler Goodwin

Tyler is a founding partner at IF Ventures, a project developer that helps global corporations design and build new inclusive business models in Sub-Saharan Africa. Previously, Tyler has led and supported the development of 7 inclusive businesses in Africa and South Asia, working primarily on how to solve for gaps in municipal utilities by creating affordable consumer services.

His work includes developing several of Unilever’s first explorations into hardware and non-traditional distribution channels, and pioneering local distribution models for the Gates Foundation's 'Re-invent the Toilet' technology portfolio. Tyler was also a founding member of WSUP Enterprises, an in-house venture lab within Water & Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP) that played a critical role in WSUP's 2014 Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship.

Prior to moving to Kenya, Tyler worked on the business side of technology commercialization with R&D teams on projects in Hong Kong and Texas — including a perimeter security system, a risk communication system, and an MRI-compatible neonatal incubator. He is passionate about creating an Afro-centric model for sustainable urban development, and helping ensure the possibilities of tech are realized through integration into successful business models.
